When Life Imitates Art

April 21, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

I suppose I’ll spend the coming days at work on more intimate art… like sketches of tissues healing. Coincidence or foreshadowing?

Dick Head. Up & Around.

April 3, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

Ex-US Vice Prez, Dick Cheney, was said to be recovering heartily after a transplant of his original, tuckered-out ticker. Cheney trade in Frankenstein’s heart for a fresh one. Dick Head was also feeling full of piss and vinegar following some weekend repairs.

Eastside Emotions

March 20, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

Presenting Trial 3 of You Are Here, my experiment in emotional cartography.  You’ll find the full results below.  This round of testing took place on March 9th, 2012, over on the Eastside at the Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM).  Trial 3 began around dusk for the Members’ Reception, and continued into the evening, during BAMignite. I enjoyed several stellar conversations about the project and was dually excited about all the meaningful questions and new ideas.  In fact, I had to create […]

You Are Here

February 21, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

You Are Here is an experiment in emotional cartography.  It can be performed inside or out, is inspired by the work of psychologist Robert Plutchik, and incorporates sparkly things.  In a roundabout way, a group’s emotional state is examined, tallied up, and photographically documented. Participants are asked to select markers that appeal to them and tie those onto a larger structure of cord and wood called the circumplex.  The structure serves as a map of human emotional states.  Hopefully the […]

Caution: May Exploit Puns

January 29, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

The Adventures of Mr. Wiener in Chocolate Canyon was an experiment in blatant adianoeta.  It featured live action video of dogs and dolls, compositing and 3D animation.  Many generous friends participated in the crazy project.  2012 means that Wiener turns 10 years old.  Egads!   The edit disappeared long ago.  But I do have the title sequence, featuring Mr. Wiener’s theme.  Sing along. Have you met Mr. Wiener? The hot dog of the neighborhood. To be a friend of Mr. […]

The Lord’s Dander

January 19, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

We awoke to smashing glass.  The Lord’s dander had coated the land just before dawn. An evil snow, awakening male aggression. One young warrior was pummeled mercilessly. The victors fled to the south, drawing penises on cars as they went. We ran to the street.  The loser was gone.  In his place, the symbol that cannot be spoken. We saddled our trusty steed, Malachi. And followed Malachi’s raven, Engracia. Who was following another raven, Roy. We were valeted to the […]

The New Studio

January 16, 2012 by The Ghost Horse

I’ve been at my current residence since late September.   It’s a 100 year old beast of a house that is split into three apartments – one flat per level, lots of character.  Apparently these resourceful old ladies divided it up into several units during the Depression. Our place used to be two smaller ones.  I guess code today only allows for three residences per old ass house… bla, bla, bla.  The present slum lord made one place out of […]

Extremely Sensitive Information

November 16, 2011 by The Ghost Horse

Wa da ta.  I’m a tad delayed revealing outcomes from the latest round of You Are Here testing.  As you may know, a top-notch group of emotional revelers was analyzed at Sprout V on November 5th. Emotional cartography with live human subjects never goes exactly as planned – it is a fickle and experimental process at best.  Since cutting edge technology, handwriting analysis and psychic octopi are used to thoroughly analyze the data, synthesizing an accurate visual of how participants […]

Results Pending, Dinner Digesting

November 6, 2011 by The Ghost Horse

I enjoyed the dinner at Sprout V… as well as several of the presentations.  Some folks interacted with my piece You Are Here and I’m cracking the code to unlock how they’re feeling.  I’ll share what develops in a few days.  In the mean time, here are the negatives.
