The Big Black Marble 2009 20 x 18 x 18 in. Globe, plastic vials, ink, cooking oil. This used to be a globe. Now it’s more of a contraption. Twenty plastic vials protrude from its surface. The idea was to signify the largest petroleum fields on the planet. So I blacked out the oceans and continents to represent the Earth as a black, crude-producing ball.
