This used to be a globe. Now it’s more of a contraption. Twenty plastic vials protrude from its surface. The idea was to signify the largest petroleum fields on the planet. So I blacked out the oceans and continents to represent the Earth as a black, crude-producing ball.
Those vials are filled with cooking oil and ink. Well, most of them still are. Over the years some of the seals have leaked into the globe. There used to be a sound-activated light on the inside, which made the vials glow when you yelled at The Marble. Good times, but it was just too hard to get inside to change the batteries.
